Evocation and Invocation of Angels The evocation and invocation of angels is an ethical issue. My personal recommendation is that you don't do either. Why? Because invocation and evocation can be considered "enslavement". And, since witches and Wiccans don't do any harm, well ?!?!?
Evocation is used to cause a physical manifestation of an angel so that a summoner can communicate with the angel. Invocation is used to have an angel enter the summoner's body directly and through that communicate with the angel. {It's easy to see why both could be "dangerous", particularly, invocation.}
It's also easy to see that these kinds of activities intend to "compel" an angel into doing some kind of bidding - in other words, giving control over an angelic body to a human body. Somehow, I don't think that's likely to happen. Why? Angels are big, huge, awesome, powerful beings. Do you really think they're going to let a human control them? Not!
So, my advice? Pray to angels - in other words, be polite, be respectful, and ask {nicely, too, will help}.
Spirit Guides, Angels, Faeries, and so forth There are enough people that think spirit guides, angels, and faeries are not one and the same. As far as I'm concerned, angels, spirit guides, faeries, and all similar things are all the same. Yes, they all have different ways about them and have arisen from different cultures. But, I feel that the principles that these beings are and can give are the same.
They can take you on journeys that are not the same as everyday living. They can inspire you to the nth degree. They can give you succour, advice, comfort, joy, and so many other things. Angels - whatever form they take - are wondrous and totally awesome.
The word angel comes from the Greek angelos meaning messenger. {Great definition!}
The Four Archangels Descriptions of the Archangels are very confusing and overlapping. Legends and stories can be applied to one angel and then in the next breath to one of the archangels. Even the number of archangels as well as their names cause disagreement amongst scholars. Apparently, just like the Planetary Angels, there are supposed to be seven Archangels. Nevertheless, there are four Archangels who are almost always agreed upon - Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel.
Like pentagrams, Angels did not originate with the Judeo-Christian-Islamic faiths. Angels originated with the Sumerians - the first people to create a civilization in the Western world - {Mesopotamia, Tigris/Euphrates river valleys, modern day Iraq, at least as early as 5000 BCE}. So, our modern day angels are adopted just like faeries, spirit guides, animal guides, etc, etc.
