it a religious feeling?  Don't forget that many elementals are attached to religious and sacred sites.

Poltergeists, too, are another very touchy subject.  They are the "noisiest" of all the ghosts since they are the best known ghosts for noises, object movement, physical manifestations, even fire-starting, etc.  So, rarely are poltergeists considered in a positive light.

For years, poltergeists have been "attached" to pre-pubescent and pubescent teenage girls.  Even psychology has joined that fray by claiming that poltergeist activity is redirected and manifested psychic energy {usually negative} by these same girls.

Well, I beg to differ very strongly!  There is, at the very least, anecdotal evidence vis-à-vis demons, succubus, incubus, genies, etc that
age, gender, and time does not limit poltergeist activity.  Also, from the same evidence, poltergeists have been shown to travel by attaching themselves to a person - so there also is no limit to location.

Therefore, what are poltergeists?  I certainly buy into part of what psychology says that poltergeists are redirected and manifested psychic energy BUT I do not buy into the part that "blames" young girls.  And, I also feel that poltergeists are free floating energy - often negative - that has attached itself to that redirected/manifested psychic energy.

In conclusion, I making two points here.

One is that maybe not all quote unquote ghosts are actually ghosts.  My definitions indicate that only historical ghosts truly qualify as quote unquote ghosts - because they used to be people.  Elementals and poltergeists, instead of being quote unquote ghosts, are more likely to be coalesced energy - attached either to a physical location {earth energy} or to a person {psychic energy}.

And that brings me to my second point, that even though the manifestations can feel or seem the same, perhaps, the different definitions will help ghost researchers and "haunted" people understand better what they might be dealing with when investigating a haunted site or haunting.

Naturally, that then brings me to …

Wiccan tools for both ghost researchers {and for clearing ghosts}
It should be noted that these items are also my recommendations for clearing ceremonies.  Even though ghosts researchers rarely get involved in clearing ceremonies, what these tools or spells do is also help the research.  You want your equipment to work, right?  You want to be as objective as possible, right?  So, with those things in mind …

Pink is the colour of GENTLENESS.  Researching {clearing} a haunted site - particularly if the ghost is negative - requires a GENTLE touch for both yourself and the ghost.  {Pink also gives you patience and clarity of thought.}  Carry a piece of rose quartz.  Light pink or rose-coloured candles.  {It should be an odd-numbered amount of candles such as, 3, 5, 7, etc.  Also, don't "blow" your candles out - you'll blow away the magic.  Snuff your candles, please.}  Even a pink flamingo will do.  {Something like that will also add laughter to the spell - and laughter is the strongest spell of all - it will help relax you and the ghost.}  Or, wear something pink.

Add rose, lavender, violet, chamomile, citrus, and/or myrrh scents - on light bulbs, as scented candles, as pot pourri, as a body or room spray, etc.  All these scents are stress reduction - for both you and the ghost - but they are also uplifting and energizing.  So, they will energize the spell and give impetus for the ghost to co-operate.  {Also, rose, lavender, and violet can be worn as colours.}

Black dispels and disperses negative energies - so ensure that you wear something black - particularly if the ghost is disruptive or noisy or angry, etc.
