 About PSICAN...Paranormal Studies and Investigations CanadaPSICAN was founded in March of 2005 as both an umbrella group for several groups that were actively studying paranormal phenomena (most notably the Toronto Ghosts, Ontario Ghosts, The Ghosts and Hauntings Research Societies and ParaResearchers) and a separate entity to look into those aspects of the 'unknown' that were not getting the attention they need for a proper understanding.Our goal is to improve the quality and quantity of legitimate research (historical, psychological, sociological and scientific) in all areas of the paranormal that we can. We're hoping to shed light from an agnostic, neutral view on things ranging from UFOs to ghosts and hauntings. With the Ghosts and Hauntings Research Societies, ParaResearchers and several other colleagues and volunteers, we're hoping to bring these topics from the realms of the media-induced "giggle factor" they can languish in to a more prominent and accepted form of study and serious education. We're hoping to (and will endeavour to) work with both non-believers and believers with a true form of scepticism (to doubt and question, but not deny... to search for better data and evidence, look into hypothesis and information and present our findings to those interested here, on our site and in other media(s) free of charge. We see ourselves as a combination of scientists, historians, folklorists, psychologists and genuine investigators working towards finding the answers to some of the planets greatest mysteries. We welcome all thoughts and ideas and ask only that people bring empirical data to the table, as we will try to do ourselves. From the lab to the sites where "strange events" have been reported, PSICAN hopes to bring Canada's paranormal studies to everyone in a concise and proper way doing the best work we can. We are 100% non-profit and have filed to become a registered Canadian charity. Money(s) we bring in will go to the upkeep of our servers and information, investigative expenses, studies and experimentation expenses, general office and publication expenses, staff expenses (only for investigations, notation and experimentation) and will not go towards any salaries or staff "payments" without passing first through our board of directors.
