Paranormal Studies and Investigations of Canada

Affiliates Constitution

The company, Paranormal Studies and Investigations of Canada (henceforth known as PSICAN) will welcome those existing GHRS and other groups into our affiliates provided they meet the following requirements in operations and study...

#1: Selected data and findings will be displayed via the Internet and other mediums of public display for free for all to view at the discretion of the individual affiliated director(s) of the groups with the following conditions:

Section I: If a "price" is asked for the display of these findings or data, it is only to recover the costs of the display and no "profit" is to be made from these ventures.

Section II: If the data is being dispersed through a third-party that is not non-profit or other such company or corporation, an honourarium or other fee may be requested that shall be at the sole discretion of the affiliates director. These moneys cannot and should not be payable to PSICAN unless the money is going to the main PSICAN accounts and is forwarded from the recipient of the money(s) as a "gift" or "donation" to the main PSICAN body. A receipt will be issued from PSICAN for any of these gifts or moneys. All income or money raised by affiliates MUST be considered income of said groups/individuals and not to PSICAN unless the above provision is met.

Section III: A director or researcher may receive or request an honourarium or even a fee or salary for presentation of data provided it is done on the part of the individual only and is not presented to whoever the payee is as the work of the organisation or regional group as a whole. These money(s) must be considered personal income for the individual only and not "paid to" PSICAN.
#2: The needs and concerns of witnesses and "experiencers" (those who come to us as people who have experienced something) as well as those who are assisting our group(s) with their data collection or activities must come before all. PSICAN affiliates volunteers (investigators, researchers, volunteers, groups, etc.) must abide by any or all rules and regulations of a (particular) site, property or laws governing a place or even the constitution of an individual involved with the case or study ongoing.

#3: Privacy, if requested, must be maintained for any or all witnesses or "experiencers" if requested when giving details to PSICAN affiliated groups.

#4: No PSICAN affiliated group will ever request payment for any work done for an "experiencer(s)" or witnesses.

Section I: If the witness offers to look after travel expenses up to and including transportation costs, accommodation(s), food and minor equipment expenditures, this can only be accepted if first passed through a director in charge of the particular work for that location.
#5: Regional directors may recruit and staff with volunteers in any way they see fit. The directors will be responsible for the work, effort and other factors of these volunteers and staff and to ensure that they maintain the integrity of the PSICAN organisation. Should a director or one of said volunteers/staff of an affiliated group commit any act that violates this constitution, PSICAN may ask that the affiliation be broken and all ties to PSICAN be severed with the group that has had the issue.

#6: As an affiliate, groups may not request money(s) from the main PSICAN body nor can they issue tax receipts for donations or gifts using the PSICAN name unless previously agreed upon with the board of PSICAN for a specific purpose.

#7: PSICAN Affiliates By-Laws:

Section I: Sexism and/or racism will not be tolerated by any member, volunteers, director or group of and affiliate of PSICAN and can and will lead to immediate termination of ties with said group or individual and the PSICAN family.

Section II: As a PSICAN affiliate, offering first-hand assistance to 'clear a home' or any sort of paid help via a psychic, sensitive or member of a particular clergy should not be done. Offering suggestions to a witness is acceptable, but not if a fee is involved and not unless the witness/"experiencer" has made the request.

Section III: Wilful hoaxing, manufacturing of evidence or data, falsified findings presented as data in any medium will lead to immediate termination of ties to the PSICAN family of groups.

Section IV: Breaking of any municipal, provincial, federal or international laws will lead to immediate termination of ties to the PSICAN family of groups.

Section V: Breaking any of the aforementioned or following amendments will and can lead to immediate termination of ties to the PSICAN family of groups.

Section VI: Volunteers that have broken any of the aforementioned "By-Laws" must be dealt with through the affiliated group's heads or directors. If a suitable resolution is not found or the affiliated group's head or director feels that this transgression does not need correcting despite the PSICAN board feeling, can lead the PSICAN board to terminate the official ties with the affiliated group and PSICAN.
#8: Use of material(s) collected by a PSICAN group, PSICAN affiliated group or by either another group, website, media company, author, reporter, etc. must be cleared and authorized by a the affiliate's head or director with full credit going to the originators of the material unless privacy has been requested by said original source.

#9: The public stance of a PSICAN affiliated group must be one of agnosticism. Although a hypothesis or theory may be entertained, without substantial and accepted evidence from the affiliated group's head or directors and possibly the PSICAN board, a PSICAN affiliated group and its investigators and volunteers must be open to all interpretations of the phenomena being studied and must not "preach" a single belief or non-belief.

Section I: If questions arise, any issues may be presented to the affiliate's director or head as is seen fit. All issues on what constitutes proper evidence or proof must be resolved through an affiliate's director or head.
#10: All groups wishing to be an affiliate of PSICAN or its related groups (as an example, Canadian GHRS groups,) we ask that you display a small version of the PSICAN logo on your main page and, as we are/may be hosting your site(s) on our servers, we ask that a small link to allow people to donate to the main PSICAN body be placed on your site with the logo. In your "about us" or "mission statement" page, please mention that you are an affiliate of PSICAN and follow the PSICAN investigators/researchers "Code of Study and Presentation" (see below) and share information with other PSICAN groups, but you are not officially in the PSICAN groups and are unable to issue tax receipts for gifts and donations made to the main PSICAN body unless the donations are made to PSICAN proper through the link we will provide (at which point, we will issue the person a receipt from PSICAN ourselves).

#11: It is completely acceptable if a PSICAN affiliate wishes to become an organised business or charity outside the umbrella of PSICAN, but they cannot use PSICAN as an "official" part of this organisation's name and are responsible for their own business and finances and those cannot be tied to PSICAN in any way, shape or form aside from said group still being in the PSICAN family as an affiliated group.

As a promise to all affiliates, PSICAN will do it's best to include and help you with your studies and work. We will share information freely and welcome you to join "officially" as part of PSICAN as a whole in the future if you feel you might benefit from this.

We also promise to uphold the same standards of support and integrity that has grown the original groups (and eventually PSICAN itself) as the premier paranormal research group(s) in this country.

We will promote all events, fund raisers and any other things from an affiliate and do what we can, when we can to make sure your group(s) are functioning as best as we can... at your request.
