Ghost Tour Staff

Kyle
Kyle was the original founder of the Ghost Tour. Inspired by a tour he took in Historic Williamsburg he returned to Niagara and began to collect stories from locals, as well as staff and visitors to Fort George. Soon after, the Ghost Tour was born! As stated on the back of the book he recently authored  "Niagara’s Ghosts at Fort George" the first night he sat alone on the street corner—no one arrived to take a tour. Now, in the tenth season Ghost Tours enjoys crowds of over one hundred many nights throughout the summer. Kyle has also contributed to "Ontario Ghost Stories". Kyle holds a degree in Physics which proves useful in both his evening and daytime careers. During the day, this spooky guy trades in his black cape and dons a white lab coat as the Director of Mad Science of Niagara, an international company that brings fun-filled, fact-packed, high-energy science shows to children’s birthday parties, schools, corporate events, fairs and festivals and other special events. Sonja

Sonja has been with Ghost Tours since 1996. She developed an interest in the ghosts at Fort George after a late-night meeting with a soldier standing by a cannon off in the bushes as she made her way through the copse of trees leading to the parking lot. While she still attempts to rationalize the appearance of the soldier as a trick of the light, the presence of the cannon (which was very real at the time) continues to boggle her as there has never been a cannon at that location. Sonja holds a degree in Child and Youth Studies with a minor in Psychology. Perhaps it is her knowledge of psychology that allows her to delve further into the human psyche as many have reported that her tour is the most "psychologically damaging". During the day, Sonja sheds the black cape and becoming a practitioner of an even more stressful and frightening career - Teaching.

Megan
Megan joined the staff of Ghost Tours in 1997. Having finished a degree in Museum Studies, she is one of the rare holders of that piece of paper that is actually employed in the field: she now make the rat-maze basement of the St Catharines Museum at Lock 3 her home. Although stalwart and courageous in the face of any haunting, Megan tends to break that all important ‘No Freaking Out’ Policy if confronted by any flying insect bigger than a mosquito. Needless to say, the bats and the bottle of Off are her favourite allies within the Fort.

Mark
Approximately twenty years ago Mark began working at Fort George. Those years were probably some of the most active in the ghostly annuls of the Fort. After quite a number of years Mark moved on although the Fort always seemed to draw him. In 1998 he returned to Fort George and upon hearing that there was now a Ghost Tour he decided to check it out. He got more than he bargained for as that night he had an unusual experience when he saw two figures in the Officers’ Quarters sitting room and this seemed to open the floodgates as time melted away and he remembered some of his fright as a teen at the Fort confronted with these specters.  Soon after he joined the staff of Ghost Tours (possibly on the theory that the ghost you know is better than one you don’t). Mark will readily admit that he is perhaps the most cowardly of the guides when it comes to sightings and he has a strict "don’t freak me out" policy, although this does him little good as the ghosts seem to make more appearances on his tour than any other guide...maybe just to see Mark run!
Ghost Tours is sad to announce that after nearly a decade of Ghost Tour service Mark Losier will not be returning for the 2006 season. Regrettably, family obligations require that he relocate to the Ottawa Valley.

Steven
In the early years of Ghost Tours one person was set to roam the Fort monitoring the buildings and the grounds to ensure that they were safe from break-ins. This of course meant that that person was stuck on their own, in the dark, in a haunted Fort and in the early days of the tours the idea was to remain hidden from the tour. The security person would huddle up on a lonely bastion and pace the perimeter when the tour was safely inside one of the buildings. While all of our guides have taken a turn at this, Steven has held this rather unenviable position the longest having joined the staff in 1998. Steven armed himself well with cell phone (direct dial to 911), two mag-lights, camouflage clothing and clunky army boots.  Over the last few years, Steven has persuaded us to allow him to remain well in sight and he now joins the tours, along with a few other members of the "Ghost Tour Union".

Robin
Keeping it all in the family seems to be an honoured tradition here at Ghost Tours (perhaps because they usually work for less). Kyle drafted his dad, Robin, into the Ghost Tour Union in the first year of operation (he married Sonja, another guide, in 2000—so you can see how dedicated he is to keeping the cost of your ticket low). Robin was a source of encouragement and inspiration in the early years, helping Kyle through the times when no one showed up. During the day, he is the proprietor of Coghlin and Upton, a source of military and historical accouterments (clothing, equipment, weapons for today and yesterday). He is also the source for the official capes of the Ghost Tour, so if you are "dying" to have your own contact him at www.coglinandupton.com

Chris
Official 'Ghost-Dancer' of the Ghost Tour (ask him about it when you go on his tour). Chris joined the Ghost Tour Union in 2000, first as security and lately as a guide. You can find him during the day selling tickets at Fort George, where I'm sure he'll recommend the Ghost Tour to EVERYONE!

Mike
Unique among the Ghost Tour staff, Mike has never been employed at Fort George, but got involved through the Friends of Fort George. He is the electrical expert and definitely the most mature and competent member of the staff. Parental unit to the most cutest little girls in the world he is also a fabulous artist. Check out his work at www.periodimages.com

Fry
Fry has spent so many years at Fort George that not only has he forgotten what his real name is, but he has also developed a terrible allergy to any clothing that is not made out of wool. You can visit him during the daylight hours at Fort George where he gives the best musket demonstration around!
