PSICAN - Paranormal Studies and Inquiry Canada

Nova Scotia

The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is the oldest and largest Maritime Museum in Canada. It is located in Halifax Nova Scotia. The museum celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1998, and definitely has a vibe or atmosphere associated with it. The museum is said to be haunted by two spirits, lights switch on and off on their own and staff have reported being shoved by unseen hands.

We received the following report in May 2011:

I was a contractor working at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax. Throughout the job our equipment would turn on and off, and be moved out of position. One afternoon while using our 2 way radio I heard a strange voice on the radio. It sounded like a young girl trying to talk. I dismissed it as interference, but when i talked to the night crew about it they reported similar experiences and it was always the same kinda voice.

We did research and discovered the building was haunted by a number of ghosts, and no one could explain who the young girl could be. Halifax's water front was the site of much destruction as a result of the 1917 explosion that killed 1900 people. I believe that this is the voice of one of the victims.

Our thanks to the witness for sharing these experiences. Have you experienced something that you think might be paranormal at this location or elsewhere in Nova Scotia?
