kind love.  Hematite is also the source of red ocher - an ancient, extremely sacred colour {still used today in many parts around the world}.
w  Jade is the Ancient Chinese stone of health, wealth, and longevity.  Apple green jade is considered the best.
w  Malachite {often coupled with copper} helps to release pain, anger, and depression.  Clean daily.
w  Moonstones soothe stress and promote flexibility.  Even though you can get exciting things like chocolate or mint moonstones, my favourite is the milky, almost iridescent moonstone.
w  Lapis Lazuli brings success in relationships.
w  Obsidian and Apache Tears ease and release both pain and anger.  They also can be used for protection.
w  Opals help to clarify and amplify.  Do not immerse this fragile stone in water.
w  Pearls, mother of pearl, shells, and coral are "stones" of peace.  They cool, calm, and soothe and all are ancient fertility and prosperity "stones" and symbols {also good luck & money}.  {These "stones" are created by sea animals, so they're not "true" stones.}  Coral also energizes and warms - particularly when the coral is in the "warm colour" spectrum.
w  Pyrite promotes love and friendship.  {Plus a great stone for making fires.}
w  Quartz - most common of all crystals - includes agate, amethyst, citrine, chalcedony, feldspar [and that's just to name a few] - is a stone of power and harmony.  In other words, quartz balances, grounds, calms, gentles, heals, reduces stress, etc, etc, - and that in turn, empowers and enhances.  Shells and quartz are the best stones to start off with.  Herkimer diamonds, which are quartz and crystallize in a specific configuration, are known as Attunement Stones
w  Rose quartz promotes gentle love, helps you to forgive, and restores emotional balance.  Clean frequently.  Keep rose quartz in a sunny window.
w  Rubies promote stamina, strength, and leadership.
w  Sapphires make you charming, will detoxify you, and will help your hearing.
w  The newly and very popular Sugilite is known as the Love Stone of the Ages - hugely empowering and enhancing.
w  Tigers Eye is known as the Wish Stone - but with a warning, "Be careful what you wish for."  And that's probably why it helps to clarify thinking.
w  Topaz is the Personal Power Stone.  It helps promote self-confidence.
w  Turquoise, since ancient times and across many cultures, is a stone of wisdom and healing.
w  Zircon eases depression and insomnia and is an excellent detoxifier.  Natural zircons are the best but man made stones will do in a pinch.
w  To enhance intuition, sensitivity, and psychic abilities - start with amethyst, lapis lazuli, and moonstone.

Metals
The three most commonly used metals - silver, gold, copper - all amplify other stones.  In addition,
w  Copper is a good healing metal and is considered excellent for use with arthritis.
w  Gold warms and attracts/communicates prosperity.
w  Silver heals, cleanses, and helps release negativity.

How to "Clean" your Stones
There's probably 500 different ways to clean your stones.  The easiest, no muss, no fuss method I've come across is:

When you go to bed, drop your stones {whether jewellery or separate stones} in a dish of sea salt.  "Big" cleansing is much the same, except, you need to put the dish in a sunny or full moon window.
Herbs and Old Wives' Tales
w  Cedar branches hung around your house protects it against lightning strikes.  Cedar, in your wallet, attracts money.  This spell really works.  For years, I've had cedar in my wallet.  No matter what the situation or circumstance, somehow or other, money comes my way.

From the top: amber, citrine, green & lavender fluorite,  raspberry garnet, kyanite, malachite, and  fire opal in brown opal.  Fluorite creates stability, balance, & the ability to see both sides of a coin.  Kyanite, the Calming & the Meditation Stone, never has to be cleansed - it does not retain negativity.

Gold, silver, and copper.
