feelings and be happier - and which, of course, is not doing any harm.

BUT never forget that this spell - like many spells -
walk a fine line - spells are very powerful.  Your intent must ALWAYS be ethical.  So, if you're in any kind of negative space or negative mood, try your very best NOT to do spellcrafting - instead do stress-busting spells first, for yourself, to put yourself in the right frame of mind. and then, spellcraft to your heart's content.

How , When, and Where to Cast a Spell
It can be as simple as a prayer, chant, rhyme, etc said inside your head.  Or it can be as complicated as setting up a ritual area/altar replete with crystals {and balls}, candles, cloths, colours, athames, symbols, pictures of angels/spirit guides, aromas and scents, herbs, smudges, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, ad nauseum.

So, again, it's up to you to decide how simple, complicated, acetic, fussy, and/or traditional you wish to be.  Again, the best rule to follow is that if the "way" and "how" feel right, then they probably are.  Trust your intuition.  Trust your instincts.

Probably the best answer is that anytime and anywhere is appropriate for casting spells.  Nevertheless, some common sense should be used.  A good rule to follow is to make sure that you are at ease with the anytime or the anywhere.

For example, don't light candles, start mixing up a potion, and so on when you're driving a car on the highway at high speed.  Or, don't cast a calming spell, when the kids are screaming for their after-school snacks {unless, of course, you're casting it upon the kids!}.

Empowering a Spell with the Moon  and/or with the Sun
Using the power of the moon can increase the energy and synergy of spells.

Since waxing moons are "growing" - the 14 or so days when the New Moon grows into the Full Moon - this particular time is good for casting positive spells, such as "I've studied hard, help me pass my exams." or "I'd like a raise at work."

Since waning moons are "dying" - the 14 or so days when the Full Moon fades to the New Moon - this is a good time to cast spells that have "reduction" in mind, such as "Make the negative vibrations fade away from my house".

As for empowering a spell with the sun, all you need is a sunny window on a sunny day or just a sunny day.  Hey, what could be easier?

Sabbats and Esbats
Anytime there's something astronomical going on with the sun or the moon, that's also a good time to cast or prepare a spell - because the spell gets added power from planetary movements, astrological/astronomical events, etc, etc.

Sabbats and esbats, too, are excellent times to cast {and prepare} spells.  Sabbats are excellent for "growth" and "prosperity" types of spells.  Esbats are excellent for "wisdom" and "woman" types of spells.

Mint, a rampant but excellent garden ground cover, shows itself early in spring growing well up until frost.  It's drying properties take it through the  winter - so mint is known as a fertility herb.   Since fertility was often coupled with prosperity, mint is also used in money spells.  But, that's not all!  The scent of mint is uplifting and will calm.  It's a fabulous cooking / flavouring herb.  And, it's been used as a healing herb since ancient times.  Not bad!
